State of Grace - Upscale American food. One of our favorites.
Cleburne Cafeteria - Classic American cafeteria style eatery. Known for good food and decent portions.
The Breakfast Klub - Inexpensive southern comfort food. They're very famous and have very long lines!
Asian
Pepper Twins - Authentic Chinese food options at a reasonable price. Portions are family style. A favorite of ours.
Trendy Dumpling - Varied Chinese food options (including very authentic) that are mostly family style. We love the dry pots!
Pepper Tree Veggie Cuisine - Vegetarian only Chinese cuisine. Known for a great lunch buffet.
Oishii Sushi - Serves great sushi at very reasonable prices. Very popular spot that often has long wait times. You can easily walk here.
Kyhber - Indian and Pakistani food at reasonable prices.
Thai Bistro - Medium priced, but good Thai food.
Barbeque
Goode Company BBQ - Reasonably priced and solid BBQ option. We really like the jalapeno sausage links and green beans.
Gatlin's BBQ - This is a Houston favorite and is fairly famous. The only problem is it's pretty far North in the city. They're brisket is amazing if you're willing to take the time!
Steak and Seafood
Truluck's - A very popular upscale steak and seafood joint known for great food and great service. They offer a great dining experience that will not disappoint.
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen - More reasonable priced establishment that offers cajun style seafood options. The Pappadeaux platter is huge, easily serves two, and you can ask for much of it to be pan seared instead of fried.
Brennan's - An upscale cajun seafood restaurant that is very well known for good food in Houston. We've only had good experiences here and it's the perfect place for a date night.
Mexican
Below we've listed several restaurants that serve great Mexican food. We think they're all great options and have comparable food and prices. We particularly enjoy the fajitas. If you see a food truck while driving around, it may be worth stopping and getting a food truck taco!

Aladdin - By far our favorite Mediterranean option in Houston. It has large portion sizes that can be two meals and you get to try a variety of dishes that all taste great! This is a great pick for vegetarians.
Collina's Italian Cafe - They have great pizza and they're very reasonably priced. This is our go-to pizza option.
Bollo - They specialize in personal sized wood-fired pizza. The price-point is higher, but it's great pizza.
